About Aria's Loft

Aria's Loft first came into being as a blog, actually the same blog that I have now, which I started in June of my freshman year (my, time does fly). I started the first version of the website at about the same time. Having at that time, very limited html knowledge, and nothing at all of css, it was quite a bit different looking. As in, pretty boring. But then, three months or so after I created the website, I suddenly couldn't access it any longer. It turned out that the free host I was using (ipower) was merely a short-term trial thing to get people to use their paid hosting. Not that there's anything wrong with that, they just never bothered to say it anywhere, so it was a bit of a surprise. Nevertheless, when I wanted to try again, I used them again. They had nice editors and e-mail and lots of fun stuff. Of course, it expired again.

And then it took me a very long time to find a new host and get this new version up and running. In that in-between time I also started my book-review blog, where I put to use some new css knowledge and created my own template. (My other blog still uses one of the pre-created ones, albeit flipped). Part of the inspiration for finally restarting this site was that I learned how to make image maps, which are actually incredibly easy to make and do not, like I read somewhere a couple of years ago, require any sort of special program. I got really excited about this, and hence the image map-inspired layout that you see now. I'm quite proud of it. Now it's getting filled up, and hopefully it'll be around and evolving for years to come.

About Aria

Well, I'm quite flattered that you want to know more about me, but I'm not sure where to begin. Let's see, I'm 17, just graduated from high school, the exact location of which is not important. Though I will say that I consider it the edge of nowhere, you know, not exactly the middle, but getting close. Aria isn't my real name, but I like it, and again, it's not important.

Other than anticipating college, my life right now consists of: school, reading (hence my whole book section of this site) writing, spending too much time on the computer, thinking, learning, (neither of which are really covered by school), swimming (butterfly rules!), some art and photography, working on my craft business, drawing floor plans, dreaming, playing flute and piano, being in way too many school clubs, dreaming, sleeping when I can, trying to remember to blog, generally existing, and many other pointless things, such as work.

I love how that last paragraph was one sentence.

My favorite food is strawberries, and my favorite animal is the elephant. This has been true for about a million years and probably will not change any time soon. That is, in contrast to other favorite things, which I always have the hardest time choosing, because there is just so much out there that is great. Other things I like include the colors silver and orange, and any "heathered" color, physics, architecture, Russian and Japanese language, and much of each of those cultures, climbing trees, stars, arguing in support of my liberal view points, my amazing best friend, Jeopardy, Lost, and Heroes, pretty much any music not rap or country, but especially folk and random cd's that I buy without having heard the group before, the movies In America and October Sky, quotes, memorizing poetry (Pushkin, Shakespeare, Longfellow right now) vacations, travel, and oh, I could go on like this for a long time.

My personal philosophy right now is that zjizen prikracnie. It means that life is wonderful, but since kracivie in Russian means beautiful, when I think of it I tend to think "Life is beautiful/wonderful and all you can do is be happy about it". It's a nice philosophy to have.

So that's all I have to say right now. Feel free to e-mail me with any questions that you have.
